With these enhancements, clients will have access to more extended definitions for CIQ Fundamentals and be able to adjust filters and parameters with ease.

What’s new: In this release, we introduced a series of new functionalities and core enhancements designed to streamline and enrich workflows for RatingsDirect® users across multiple sectors. The enhancements, spanning across various areas of the platform, introduce new experiences for Collateralized Loan Obligations and Sustainable Finance, enhance the Coverage page, and expand US Public Finance alert functionality.

These enhancements facilitate a better understanding of CLO characteristics, helping users to make more informed investment decisions.
  • RatingsDirect® users now have access to a dedicated Sustainable Finance page, offering access to Second Party Opinions (SPOs) and Sustainability Research & Insights. Our SPOs, grounded in the methodology of the recently acquired Shades of Green, provide transparent evaluations of a company’s financing or framework. Together with our Sustainability Research & Insights, users gain valuable insights into contributions towards a sustainable future.
  • RatingsDirect® users now have access to a dedicated S&P Ratings Macroeconomic Credit Indicators page for sovereigns that displays sovereign risk and economic conditions. Users will have access to historical, current, and forecasted data, while gaining a deeper understanding and transparency into the credit analysis process for sovereigns.
  • RatingsDirect® users now have access to definitions for all Scores, Factors, and Modifiers directly on the Corporate or Country/Region Profile. This enhancement allows users to gain a deeper understanding of each field and its specific scale, offering greater transparency into the components of credit ratings.
  • RatingsDirect® users can set and receive S&P Global Ratings and Credit Research alerts based on US Public Finance (USPF) Revenue Source sectors and subsectors. This new feature is designed to provide added value for users seeking real-time or scheduled alerts for credit actions for municipals within their specific segments of interest.



Banks & Credit Unions

What’s new: In this release we introduced new U.S. Bank Regulatory Aggregates and updated Credit Union Regulatory Financial Summary pages with the latest credit union summary fields. Additionally, we added Rate fields for Deposit and Consumer Loan products in all three Branch Analytics Applications (Market Share, Market Overlap, Merger Planning / HHI Analysis), which will achieve Rate-type field consistency across Screener, Desktop, and Branch Analytics. Furthermore, we added six new As-Reported Financials pages along with a new Basel III/IV templated page for banks globally and added credit & HTM-adjusted common equity and tangible book value ratios for US GAAP banks.

What’s new: In this release, we introduced 40+ new data items pertaining to IFRS 17, the largest change in accounting standards for global insurers in over 20 years. IFRS 17 requires insurers to present the current value of their insurance contracts (vs. historic value) and recognize profit over the lifetime of the contracts (vs. immediate term). These new disclosures will help users better understand the impact of insurance contracts on an insurance company’s profitability.

  • Users can view mining deal details within the Transactions Screener and the S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in, covering the individual assets, acquired and associated reserves and resources. Commodity reserves and resources and the estimated value will assist in benchmarking activities and identifying precedent deals.
  • Users can view details on the power and fuel sources across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels that are used at the mine sites for mining and processing activities. This new data item from the Mine Economics production and cost dataset provides insight into the current energy considerations for an asset’s modeled energy and infrastructure costs.



Technology, Media & Telecommunications

What’s new: In this release, we added three new views for our U.S. Broadband and Video data with filter options for Geography for subscriber market share, operator footprint, and speed/tech health. We also added a Data Library widget on the Tech, Media & Telecom sector homepages.

Workflow improvements:
  • Users can now access new report types of DMA, County, Zip added under Report Type filter.
  • Users will be able to visualize results filtered at different geography levels based on report type for 41,000+ geographies, generate focused results by operator type, and support comprehensive entity analysis across 1,200 operators.
  • Users can now access the Data Library widget on each of the Tech, Media & Telecom sector homepages to view the latest proprietary datasets published by Kagan research analysts. Additionally, a Forecast badge is added for each relevant report, signaling datasets containing forecasted data.   • Users can use numeric relative constants in their excel models. Relative constants are numerical values assigned to the current period and users can add or subtract from these constants to retrieve future or historical information.
  • Users can retrieve market data of a previous day close price on non-trading days, such as weekends and holidays in S&P Capital IQ Pro plug-in formulas.

We also updated S&P Ratings fields within various Screener views and S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in and expanded Rating and Debt types. In Debt Capital Structure, we now have additional data fields for loan securities and in Dashboard, a Top Loan Movers and Top Liquid Loan widgets are now available.

  • The price and analytics chart is enhanced with an additional custom date selector.
  • The Loan Sector profile page is enhanced to include search functionality by borrower, depth filtering, and enhanced visualizations to view current loan universe statistics for S&P Ratings distribution as well as minimum, median and maximum values for loans within a certain pricing range.
  • Dashboard and Screener now include price change and price change (%) fields. Top Loan Movers and Top Liquid Loan perspectives were also added on the Dashboard.

    • As a part of this change, the previous S&P Credit Ratings data fields will be retired. Any saved screen or Excel plug-in model that uses the old fields will need to be updated with the new metrics.   • Users can access the RatingsDirect Research Article Recommender on S&P Capital IQ Pro platform via the RatingsDirect® Home page and the research article viewer which leverages readers’ past usage to create custom article recommendations, enabling better article discovery.
  • RatingsDirect® users can explore Scores & Factors history for corporate, financial institutions, and insurance entities on the Ratings & History page in the left-hand navigation menu. This new feature provides valuable insights into companies' historical scores & factors, enabling investors to contextualize past ratings and make informed decisions based on long-term trends.
  • RatingsDirect® users can access Insurance financial highlights from CreditStats Direct financials for insurance entities. This addition provides clients with important financial metrics considered in the S&P Global Ratings Analysts' assessment of insurance companies' creditworthiness.
  • RatingsDirect® users can now access the US Public Finance Benchmarking tool available in the S&P Capital IQ Pro plug-in template library. This tool provides users with the ability to efficiently display economic & financial data from revenue sources and compare financial metrics against up to 10 peers. Additionally, this capability offers a 5-year history of the subject entities’ financials and computes peer benchmarking statistics including maximum, minimum, mean and median values.
  • RatingsDirect® users can now conduct more targeted searches for S&P Ratings research articles using specific keyword matches within the article headline, body, or the entire document. This feature enhances the searchability and findability of research articles, catering to users who are familiar with the exact headline of an article or are looking for specific keywords mentioned throughout the article.
  • RatingsDirect® users can access Sovereign Factors and BICRA group scores & components in Screener, S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in, and Dashboard. This enhancement enables users to screen the sovereign universe based on these criteria and display information in Excel and Dashboard.





US Business Listings

Platform: S&P Capital IQ Pro 

What’s new: We continued to expand our prospecting workflow by adding absolute probability of default to the Business Listings data set. Users will be able to pull in NAICS and county-level probability of default data for improved prospecting and additional credit risk analysis. We further integrated Vertical IQ Industry Intelligence offering into the S&P Capital IQ Pro platform under the Companies data set providing users insight on industry data alongside entity reporting and analysis.

  • Access probability of default estimates for 2 and 4 quarter time horizons calculated for all combinations of counties and states across the United States with 4- and 2-digit NAICS codes.
  • Subscribing users can now access Vertical IQ Industry data directly under the companies' data set in Capital IQ Pro platform. Vertical IQ provides NAICS-level industry data allowing users to supplement entity-level analysis and reporting with insights on industry intelligence.





Banks and Credit Unions

Platform: S&P Capital IQ Pro

What’s new: We added derived ratios related to IFRS 9 loan staging classification for IFRS 9 adopted banks, and loan & deposit maturity fields for US GAAP banks. Additionally, we updated Credit Union Financial Performance (FPR) fields for Credit Unions, added new Uniform Bank Performance Report (UBPR) for banks and latest regulatory fields in Screener. These field additions for Banks and Credit Unions allow users to measure financial performance, key trends, balance sheet compositions for one entity or a group of companies.

  • Users can now access the derived fields related to IFRS 9 standard loan staging classification for IFRS 9 adopted banks.
  • Users can now access loan and deposit maturity fields for US GAAP banks.
  • Users can access FPR fields with updated average values for a selected company as per the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) defined guidelines and new datapoints within Borrowing Arrangements (P26). Additionally, users can now access the newly published UBPR Income Statement page changes. These tools help institutions prepare for regulatory examinations.



Insurance

Platform: S&P Capital IQ Pro

What’s new: In response to the largest change in accounting standards pertaining to IFRS 17 for global insurers, we introduced new disclosures and analysis across three new pages on the S&P Capital IQ Pro platform. These new disclosures will help users better understand the impact of insurance contracts on an insurance company’s profitability. These new metrics expand the already robust physical risk hazards available by showing exposure to drought conditions based on both temperature and precipitation levels.
