ESG    


Platform: S&P Capital IQ Pro

What’s new: In this release, we introduced new Net Zero commitments, providing users the ability to assess corporate climate targets. Additionally, we have continued to update ESG scores based on the 2023 annual CSA methodology and updated modeled scores for prior years. Furthermore, we added environmental point-in-time (PiT) and As Reported (AR) data allowing users to access data at a historical point in time and as reported data by the company. Lastly, we introduced a new screen capturing the involvement of companies in the expansion of Coal Mines, Power Plants and Transportation Infrastructure.

Workflow improvements:

  • Users can now access the latest S&P Global ESG Scores and S&P Global CSA Scores for 8000+ companies. The latest scores are based on the 2023 annual CSA methodology which evolves annually to ensure alignment with recent updates in recognized standards and frameworks, and to accurately capture corporate efforts in answering upcoming sustainability challenges.
  • Ability to assess corporate climate targets on their comprehensiveness, adequacy, credibility, completion and examine long-term forecasts of Scopes 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions through 2050 on the Capital IQ Pro platform.
  • Users can now access the modeled scores for prior years based on the updated methodology. These are not restatements of the historical S&P Global ESG Scores and are only provided for comparative assessment to show what the S&P Global ESG Scores would have been including modeling approaches for the years prior to 2023.
  • Users can access and view a company’s profile at a historical point in time. If adjustments or amendments were implemented, we would identify the reasons behind the change while preserving access to the historical data.
  • Additionally, users can access the raw, as reported data as published by the company. This will help highlight what was, or was not, included in a company’s sustainability reporting and the value S&P Global brings in its modeling process to normalize and standardize the data.



Fixed Income (Loans)

Platform: S&P Capital IQ Pro

What’s new: Users can access the new Loan Matrix widget in Dashboard, which displays an aggregate view of S&P-rated facilities based on an Issuer’s Industry/Sector, and an option to navigate to Loan Sector Profile to see the security details. Users can view improved data displays on Loan Security Detail, coupled with enhanced filtering on Loan Sector Profile with the addition of more granular industry classifications and a new Country filter.

Workflow improvements:
  • Users can access select the new Country filter at the top of the page to filter or sort the loan facilities based on the Issuer’s Country and use the enhanced Sector filter which now has four levels of granularity for an Issuer’s industry classification.
  • We are introducing new widget enhancements where users can access two separate tabs displaying average Live Bid Price Change and Live Spread-To-Maturity (STM) data for select S&P rated loan securities grouped by the Issuer’s sector.

What’s new: In this release, we enhanced Macroeconomic data within the Geographic Intelligence Screener by adding select economic indicators for broad regions. Additionally, users with premium access cab access Purchasing Managers’ Index™ (PMI™) Metals, UK Jobs, and Price Pressure & Supply Shortage Indices License can see historical and current data on PMI Summary page and within the Geographic Intelligence Screener for these indices.

What’s new: In this release, we added industry specific estimates to Surprise Alerts, which allow users to receive alerts on earnings beats and misses for companies they track.

  • Users can add industry-specific estimates to Surprise Alerts, which allow users to receive alerts on earnings beats and misses for companies they track. The alert setup process has also been upgraded, to make it easier to apply relevant metrics to companies in similar industries.
  • Companies are now grouped by industry to make it easier to apply relevant metrics to multiple companies at the same time.



Transactions 


Platform: S&P Capital IQ Pro

What’s new: In this release, we included additional information that enhances the consideration details of M&A deals as well as new clickthrough for Target and Buyer Financials. The additional transparency will help users understand the exact securities involved as a part of the deal consideration from the perspective of the various outstanding securities of the target. Furthermore, users will be able to filter transactions on Screener using additional industry classifications such as NACE, NAICS, for Target, Buyer/Investor, Seller and M&A deal terms.

Workflow improvements:
  • Additional details for target company’s outstanding securities such as different classes of common stock, restricted stock units, performance stock units etc. have been added to the Consideration Details grid as well as click-through of various M&A valuation data points e.g., Transaction Value, Implied Enterprise Value, Implied Equity Value, etc.
  • Users can now click-through into S&P Capital IQ sourced financial values for M&A deal participants, target and buyer financials.

Fixed Income

What’s new: We enhanced our Loan Sector profile by adding functionality to enable a borrower search, new page filters, and distribution visualizations to allow for a deeper understanding of the current loan market. We also updated S&P Ratings fields within various Screener views and S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in and expanded Rating and Debt types. In Debt Capital Structure, we now have additional data fields for loan securities and in Dashboard, a Top Loan Movers and Top Liquid Loan widgets are now available.

Workflow improvements:
  • Access Yield, Conversion, and Advisor data for Loan facilities on the Loan Security Detail page. The price and analytics chart is enhanced with an additional custom date selector. The Loan Sector profile page is enhanced to include search functionality by borrower, depth filtering, and enhanced visualizations to view current loan universe statistics for S&P Ratings distribution as well as minimum, median and maximum values for loans within a certain pricing range. Dashboard and Screener now include price change and price change (%) fields. Top Loan Movers and Top Liquid Loan perspectives were also added on the Dashboard.
  • We are introducing new S&P Credit Ratings metrics for several data sets in Screener and Capital IQ Pro plug-in. As a part of this change, the previous S&P Credit Ratings data fields will be retired. Any saved screen or Excel plug-in model that uses the old fields will need to be updated with the new metrics. With this update, users can access S&P Ratings fields for Issuer/Borrower and security level S&P Ratings data on classic Screener views like Companies (Classic), Geographic Intelligence, Capital Structure (Classic), Insurance Statutory Financials (U.S.), Regulated Depositories (U.S.), Reinsurance Relationships (U.S.), Insurance Product Filings (U.S.), Insurance Investment Holdings (U.S.) and Insurance Investment Transactions (U.S.) on the Capital IQ Pro platform, as well as the S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in.

We also expanded Business Involvement Screens with new coverage in both the Consumer Products and Defense & Weapons categories and added a new Paris Alignment company’s confidence score for the latest and historical years. Furthermore, we expanded coverage of Physical Risk assets to 1.6 million.

  • Users can now access the latest S&P Global ESG Scores and S&P Global CSA Scores. The latest scores are based on the 2023 annual CSA methodology, which evolves annually to ensure alignment with recent updates in recognized standards and frameworks, and to accurately capture corporate efforts in answering upcoming sustainability challenges.
  • Users can access modeled scores for Survey Respondent companies, which were previously available only for publicly assessed companies. As part of the update, S&P Global ESG Score for all companies will include question-level scores based on the disclosed data and question-level scores based on modelling approaches in the absence of disclosure. The S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) Score is the S&P Global ESG Score without the inclusion of any modelling approaches.
  • Users can now access updated fields within the ESG Scores dataset in Dashboard, Screener as well as S&P Capital IQ Pro plug-in. These updated fields allow users to screen companies based on S&P Global CSA scores as well as modeled S&P Global ESG scores in the absence of disclosure. These options are available across company-level, dimension-level and criteria-level scores and weight-related fields. Updated ESG criteria score and weight-related fields are also available as part of the 2023 CSA methodology updates.
  • New Research Type flags added to the company Environmental pages can be used to identify how each company’s respective Environmental profile was generated. A company’s Environmental data can either be part of the Trucost fully researched universe or modeled.
  • Users can see a new field, Confidence Score, on the Paris alignment page, Screener, Dashboard and S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in for latest and historical years.
  • Users can access expanded Business Involvement Screens type in both the Consumer Products and Defense & Weapons categories. Clients can now screen for companies with involvement in retail and medical cannabis, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), palm oil growth and production, pesticides and riot control equipment and weapons.
  • We have expanded our coverage from 870k assets to 1.6 million assets in Physical Risk coverage. Users will now have a more complete picture of the climate physical risks associated with a company. Additionally, 2022 Physical Risk methodology has been updated for ~270K asset records. With this update, all assets are now aligned with the most up-to-date Physical Risk harmonized data set.

What’s new: We introduced a series of enhancements designed to streamline RatingsDirect® users research processes and provide them with valuable insights. These enhancements span various areas of the S&P Capital IQ Pro platform, providing users with personalized recommendations, additional data, and improved search capabilities.

Workflow improvements:
  • RatingsDirect® users can access the RatingsDirect Research Article Recommender on S&P Capital IQ Pro platform via the RatingsDirect® Home page and the research article viewer which leverages readers’ past usage to create custom article recommendations, enabling better article discovery.
  • RatingsDirect® users can explore Scores & Factors history for corporate, financial institutions, and insurance entities on the Ratings & History page in the left-hand navigation menu. This new feature provides valuable insights into companies' historical scores & factors, enabling investors to contextualize past ratings and make informed decisions based on long-term trends.
  • RatingsDirect® users can now conduct more targeted searches for S&P Ratings research articles using specific keyword matches within the article headline, body, or the entire document. This feature enhances the searchability and findability of research articles, catering to users who are familiar with the exact headline of an article or are looking for specific keywords mentioned throughout the article.
  • RatingsDirect® users can access Sovereign Factors and BICRA group scores & components in Screener, S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in, and Dashboard. This enhancement enables users to screen the sovereign universe based on these criteria and display information in Excel and Dashboard.
  • RatingsDirect® users can search using the S&P Rating entity ID to find relevant entities seamlessly.



Technology, Media, and Telecommunications

What’s new: In this release, we launched a brand-new data library highlighting thousands of historical and current datasets to further support data discoverability. Additionally, Kagan Research and Documents are now integrated in Document Viewer.

What’s new: In this release, we introduced a more robust index charting capability on the Index Profile page, expanded index financial aggregate coverage, and added intraday open-high-low data points. Additionally, we integrated Index identifiers and expanded Index trailing and forward multiples in the S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in.

  • Users can now take advantage of our robust ChartIQ visualizations on the Index Profile page. This includes drawing tools, studies, and new chart-types. These additional capabilities will enable users to undertake more meaningful analysis and offer a modernized interface experience for charting.
  • Users can access up to 20 years of aggregated Balance Sheet, Income Statement & Cash Flow statements of indices in Index Profile. The expanded financial aggregates will allow users to conduct better benchmarking and more insightful analysis.
  • Users can now view headers that display Index Ticker and SPT Identifier/Key across all indices (Profile, Constituents, Financials/Valuation). These identifiers can be plugged into SPG formulas to pull data in S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in.
  • Users can now pull additional trailing and forward multiples for index aggregates in S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in.


Fundamentals


Platform: S&P Capital IQ Pro

What’s new: In this release, we enhanced the Multiples page by offering a Charting option, added the S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-In alias to CIQ definitions on the Templated Financial pages, and inserted additional CIQ Fundamentals data items to the S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-In and Screener. These enhancements will allow users to access similar data across the platform seamlessly.

We also incorporated stock price changes for participants pre and post M&A deal announcements along with new visualizations to analyze a company's transaction activity across various geographies. Furthermore, we improved the audit capabilities for M&A valuation data points.

Workflow improvements:
  • Users can access streaming pricing ticks on the ChartIQ chart title along with the ticker symbol which is more frequent than the selected periodicity and matches the price movement on other dashboard widgets like the List and Quote widgets.
  • The Top Loan Movers widget allows users to track the top loan facilities with most market movements (gainers or losers) with an option to select target industries and movement type.
  • The new Top Liquid Loans widget enables users to pull the most liquid loan facilities.
  • Users can access the newly added Events widget to track a list of companies, indices, view their upcoming events, and download the event calendar invites. The Events Calendar widget supports easy broadcasting and filters future events into today, tomorrow, this week, and the following week's date range options. Also, users can filter specific event types and join a livestreaming call when it is in progress.

  • Users can also view aggregated USPF sector and revenue source sector profiles, which include sector-level research insights, ratings distributions, coverage & recent actions. For entities, there is a new Institutions search vertical that contains all USPF entities and can be filtered by institution type. When searching for securities, Typeahead & Advanced Search will display when available, providing users a better understanding of who is financially responsible for debt payments.
  • View all U.S. Public Finance (USPF) securities for a given USPF entity in the Securities Summary. This page also includes filter options along with revenue source hierarchy and ratings. Users can also view the Security Detail page for individual securities, focusing on the Obligor for the maturity. In addition, users will now see not rated reason codes for NR securities.
  • Access RatingsDirect® widgets for USPF entities and USPF securities on the Dashboard and can select desired entities, securities and lists they would like to view in the widget. USPF research is integrated with the S&P Ratings Research widget which can be broadcast to via the USPF entities and USPF securities widget.
  • Create alerts based on USPF securities and entities (Municipal ICR) for credit rating actions and credit research articles from the Create Alert page. The alert email template provides detailed information and links to respective pages on the product. Additionally, users can create lists of USPF securities and companies from List Manager.
  • Access a limited version of the Capital IQ Pro platform that only displays RatingsDirect® pages and select Market Intelligence content. With this offering, users with RatingsDirect®-only access on the Capital IQ platform can gain the same access level on Capital IQ Pro.
