The US Department of Energy (DOE) on Oct. 30 released the
National Transmission Needs Study to map out how the nation’s fractured electricity transmission system could be overhauled to accommodate the surge in new renewable generation and achieve decarbonization goals. The DOE identified several major obstacles to the energy transition, which would be addressed by expanding the grid. Two of the proposed solutions, in particular, could create potential lucrative opportunities for investors.
