The World's Top 100 Largest Banks 2020

For the fifth consecutive year, Asia’s five largest banks remain to be the biggest in the world in terms of total assets, the latest global bank rankings by S&P Global Market Intelligence shows.

China’s “Big Four” retained the stop spots in this year’s ranking with combined assets of $14.821 trillion as of end-2019, up 7.52% from a year ago. Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. rounded the top five with assets of $2.893 trillion as of Dec. 31, 2019.

Nineteen of the top 100 banks are headquartered in China and collectively reported $25.814 trillion in assets. The U.S. followed with 11 institutions and then Japan with eight.
