Americas

• January 8: The six largest banks in the US have withdrawn from the UN-sponsored Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA), a group focused on setting net zero targets for the global banking industry. All remain committed in their pursuit to develop pragmatic solutions in funding energy transition.
• January 17: The Federal Reserve Board (Fed) announced its withdrawal from the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS). The Fed, which joined as the 96th member three years after the NGFS was established, did not participate in the Steering Committee, or lead any workstreams.
• January 20: U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order initiating the process of withdrawing the United States from the Paris Agreement. As per the agreement, the U.S. withdrawal will take effect one year after notification.

Europe

• January 16: The European Bank Authority (EBA) published draft guidelines for incorporating ESG scenario analysis into risk management frameworks to enhance the resilience of financial institutions against ESG-related shocks, with feedback due on April 16, 2025. A virtual public hearing will be held on March 17, 2025.

APMEA

• January 21: Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) updated its ESG Product Platform, incorporating key information on Sustainable and Responsible Investing Funds (SRI Funds) to enhance access to sustainability-themed financial products for capital market participants and the public.
