Screening: Fixed Income Search

On this page, we will look at building a fixed income portfolio as a part of our screening series.

This screen provides more granularity related to bonds, credit default swaps, municipal securities, security ratings and more. When you add a criteria that describes a company, by default, that criterion will describe either the issuer or the ultimate parent related to the security, but you have the option to choose between describing the issuer, the ultimate parent, or either one.

Example 1: How do I see a list of investment grade bonds that were issued by Asia-Pacific companies that have yet to mature?

a. Under company details, click on geographic location and tick on the box beside Asia/Pacific.
b. Click dates under fixed income securities and select maturity date. Set the time frame to all future.
c. Next, select security credit rating under credit ratings. Under Standard & Poor’s, select issue credit rating and under rating type, select foreign.
d. Finally, for value, set it to between AAA and BBB.

Example 2: Is there a way to get all the fixed income securities of the companies that I am currently monitoring without going through each company page? Specifically those that were issued in the last 12 months.

a. Under list management, select add companies.
b. Type in the tickers or the company names and search for them. Once you are able to locate the specific company you want, double click on it so that it would be transferred under selected Companies.
c. Continue adding the companies within your portfolio and when completed, click add criteria.
d. Select dates under fixed income securities. Under issue summary, choose offering date.
e. Set the time frame to last 12 months and choose add criteria.

Example 3: Is there a way to see bonds that are potentially in distress and are about to mature in the next 12 months?

a. Hover over the screening tab and select idea generation.
b. Select fixed income and from there, you will see a readily available screen for potentially distressed debt.
c. Once selected, it will take you to the screening tool with pre-defined parameters of how we define a bond to be in distress.

*Although we have suggested metrics and measurements, feel free to adjust them as per your needs. Just click on edit beside the field you want to modify.

Need the list for reporting?

Feel free to add additional columns such as the call frequency, payment frequency, and yield to worst (%) by going to the results page and clicking on the customize display columns tab and then browse all display columns.
