Overview: The Maps tool can be accessed from the Apps drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the tool bar, and will allow a user to plot many different features on a map of the entire world. It is an interactive tool that has many customization options including things like colors, shapes, sizes, layouts, and much more. Data grids from the Maps tool, as well as pictures of the map, can be exported to excel. Maps can be saved on a user’s profile, and shared with other users simply by copying and pasting the link to the map in an email. The mapping tool is a good resource for visual aids, and for adding some global perspective during data analysis.
Outline of Features and Content: As mentioned above, a map can be saved, reopened, shared, or exported from the top-right of the maps tool. Additionally, an excel file can be uploaded to the maps tool that contains things like zip codes, addresses and other location identifiers in order for them to be automatically plotted.
Through the Add Content button, you can add features like state, county, and MSA lines through the Geographic section, bank branches through the Financial Institutions section, businesses by NAICS Codes from the Businesses (U.S.) section, and many other features. Once you do so, it will add a layer to your map, which can be customized in color, shape, size and more by hovering over the three vertical dots on the right of the layer.
There is also a screener attached to the Maps tool, as seen above, that will allow a user to export results straight to the Maps tool as features on the map.
Additionally, a user can plot locations on the map by simply typing the name of a company in the search bar. All the data related to that company that is capable of being mapped will then be added as individual layers.
