2025 Corporate Renewable Energy Trends

In 2024, the cumulative US solar capacity contracted to nonutility off-takers surpassed corporate-procured wind capacity. Following a record year for solar installations in the US, corporate buyers added over 13 GW of solar capacity in 2024, compared to about 2.2 GW of corporate-tied wind capacity.

The technology and web services sector, particularly the power-intensive and green-energy-focused datacenter space, has driven the surge in tracked corporate-tied carbon-free capacity between our 2024 and 2025 updates, contributing 91.6% of the total new additions. Well-suited to datacenter power requirements and environmental goals, nuclear energy significantly contributes to corporate-contracted carbon-free energy growth, making up 43% of the tracked 47.6-GW expansion year over year.
