Future of Work Trends

Content-centric workflows have dominated a large segment of enterprise knowledge work for quite some time, and the emergence of enterprise file-sync and -share products has provided a demonstrable value of the impact cloud services could have on such work.

The COVID-19 outbreak will result in IT organizations looking at how they support remote work, with many organizations looking to extend their WFH and travel policies going into 2021. The adoption of technologies that enable remote workers was already gaining traction prior to the pandemic, and these factors could act as a catalyst and accelerate the adoption of tools that enable distributed work environments, such as DaaS.

As many companies start to think about how to leverage this time to step forward in digital transformation and embrace the 'new normal.' Of course, the new normal will include new policies and procedure, alongside new methods and models for work. But it will be powered by technologies, one of which will most certainly be IoT.

The use of blockchain and distributed ledger technology could help create a more trusted internal inventory of skills and work experiences for improved employee mobility, while offering those in the job market or gig economy a verified and automated method for proving their skills and expertise. Additionally, DLT-based digital health passport propositions have also emerged, seeking to enable employees and professionals to safely return to work as the pandemic continues.

2019 Letter to Shareholders

“A study by 451 Research found that AWS’s infrastructure is 3.6 times more energy efficient than the median U.S. enterprise data center surveyed. Along with our use of renewable energy, these factors enable AWS to do the same tasks as traditional data centers with an 88% lower carbon footprint. And don’t think we’re not going to get those last 12 points—we’ll make AWS 100% carbon free through more investments in renewable energy projects.”
