In the context of major US datacenter markets, Nevada’s two markets — Reno and Las Vegas — are comparatively small. However, with its high-growth trajectory, Reno could surpass several of the more established national markets. Nevada, like Arizona, is increasingly leveraged by companies that need datacenter space in the western or southwestern US but do not need to be in a large city. Unlike datacenters in downtown Los Angeles, for example, which service the metro, datacenters in Nevada are being used for regional workloads. This regional focus could provide a major lift to the industry there, and if current estimates hold true, Reno could catapult past Richmond.
This report provides an overview of the competitive dynamics in the market, a listing of the competitors in the area, market share of the dominant providers, supply-demand and utilization trends, and discussion of planned multi-tenant datacenter builds.
